MkII
EARTHLING MKII
The Earthling has evolved, and MkII is here. New sounds spawn from the MkI and it's Green predecessors - known for their vocal-like cleans, mid-focused guttural crunch, and verge-of-collapse overdrive. Now with a redesigned dual channel layout and expanded feature set, the MkII creates an even wider tonal array, now with cleaner cleans and crushing a crushing high gain and all of the shades of gain between.
DETAILS
GAIN & TONE SHAPING
The Earthling MkII comes standard with two flexible foot-switchable channels. Channel A has increased sweep from clean to crunch with more headroom available from the MkI version, giving more clean range and punch with hotter pickups, downtunings, and even bass guitar. It doesn't forgo all the edge-of-break-up and mid-gain sounds of the original, perfectly voiced cleans with character and slamming with overdrive and fuzz pedals. At the top of the range, classic crunch tones emerge with just the right amount of compression.
Channel B dovetails with Channel A's gain range for increased flexibility. From there Channel B venture's into high gain while preserving the Earthling's core tone, creating a unified sound when switching between channels and levels of saturation.
The two channels don’t just differ in gain—they are individually adjustable through the unique Low Frequency Voice (L.F.V.) controls. On clean tones and mid-gain tones, the L.F.V. shapes the deep low end and low-mids, giving a leaner or thicker tone. On higher gain sounds, the L.F.V. adjusts the feel and character of overdrive, from quick and focused to thick and sludgy. And of course with the gain dimed and the L.F.V. maxed, you can achieve the classic verge-of-collapse distortion this circuit is known for.
The MkII adds two new controls to the original Treble & Bass from the MkI - a wide-range Middle EQ control and Presence control. The Middle knob can provide a deep cut for a familiar clean tone and modern high gain clarity, where higher settings provide a broad vocal-like mid-range that will bring warmth to single-coils, and push high gain sounds through the thickest of mixes. The Presence control adjust upper-mid and treble in the power amp section allowing for smoother or more aggressive voicing.
EFFECTS LOOP
Another new addition is the foot-switchable tube-buffered series effects loop. The loop is transparent and provides an extremely low impedance for driving effects pedals and long cable runs with ease. Typically an effects loop cannot be incorporated effectively in this type circuit topology, but here it's implemented seamlessly without compromise.
LOUDNESS CONTROL
Dual Loudness controls transparently vary the overall volume of the amp down to bedroom levels without sucking your tone. And like all of our amplifiers, they are available in 50W, 100W, and 200W versions.
